Go with CRLN to Guatemala in January!
Experienced
delegation leader and CRLN board member Martha
Pierce will lead a delegation to Guatemala in January 2013 focused on the
theme, "Human Rights, Mining & Migration: The Ongoing Struggle of the
Guatemalan People." This will be a very special journey, as
participants engage in the following ways of meeting their Guatemalan sisters
and brothers:
Awareness: we will visit DESGUA, an organization that helps individuals who have been deported back to Guatemala from the US to re-integrate & contribute to their homeland;
Advocacy: we will meet with those who are resisting the international corporations bent on extracting and profiting from the natural resources from the country, causing incalculable environmental and social damage;
Accompaniment: we will make our 19th annual visit to Nueva Esperanza (Chaculá), a community of former refugees who are struggling to create new lives in the face of ongoing racism, economic inequality, violence and political corruption;
Action: we will explore ways that CRLN can work in partnership with our Guatemalan sisters and brothers to promote peace, justice and well-being for all.
DATES: January 6 - 18, 2013 (dates subject to adjustment)
COST: $700.00 + airfare. This includes all in-country travel, lodging, meals, and delegation coordination and leadership.
