Content of New Sanctuary Educational Programs on Immigration:

Roots of Migration - Examine why migrants choose to leave their home communities, including the impact of globalization and U.S. foreign polic.

Sojourn - learn about the journey to the United States, and the trials of entering the country and border enforcement.

Justice Denied - Learn about the current and proposed immigration laws and the consequences of those laws on immigrants and the wider community

Living in Fear - explore the harsh reality that undocumented immigrations face and the realities of the enforcement of immigration policies and the immigration detention and deportation system.

 

Types of Educational Programs:

Educational Forum - Host speakers working in immigration law, worker justice, US foreign/domestic policy, theology, and those who can share their own lived experiences.

Four Session Series - Host a four part series with presentations, participatory exercises and discussion, touching on the four aspects of migration listed above.

Film Screening - Show a film about immigration in your home, congregation or community space and have a group post-viewing group discussion

Book Discussion -Host a study group to read a book about immigration

Worship Service - Theologically trained volunteers can preach and/or lead a worship service for your congregation
