Shine a Light for Immigrant Justice.

Celebrate with us International Migrant Day by lifting up the human rights of all immigrants. This event will incorporate education, action and prayer.

Join Chicago New Sanctuary Coalition for this interfaith service as we prayerfully gather to shine a light for for immigrant justice. Our focus this year is incarceration for profit. We will take action to stop the construction of a proposed detention center in Joliet and stand up for the human dignity that we all possess by virtue of our humanness.

Corrections Corporation of America has a long history of mistreating detainees and workers.* A few months ago CNSC collaborated with other organizations to stop the construction of a private immigration detention facility run by CCA in Crete, IL. The CCA and ICE have now started conversations with Joliet's City Manager Tom Thanas to build a private immigration detention center in Joliet, IL. For more information on stopping private detention in Illinois visit: http://crln.org/Stop_Private_Detention

Time: 6pm- 7:30pm

Location: Chicago Temple (77 West Washington Street)
