Charlie Hardy to Speak In Chicago

Priest and Author, Living and Working in Venezuela

Charles Hardy, a Mary Knoll priest from Wyoming, has lived and worked in Venezuela for 16 years. He has been an eyewitness to the social transformation of Venezuela into a participatory democracy, using its oil wealth for education, healthcare, cooperatives, land reform, social welfare, and public and community media.

Venezuela remains in the cross-hairs of US foreign policy in part because it has refused to privatize public resources-posting significant social and economic growth while meeting human needs. In his book, Cowboy in Caracas, and in his speeches, Hardy gives a humble, home-spun account of his experiences and real-life observations.
