EIGHTH INTERNATIONAL ELECTION OBSERVER MISSION OF THE CENTER FOR EXCHANGE AND SOLIDARITY (CIS), 2009:
Margot Worfolk, Joe Houston, Mimi Jordan and Ann Legg, all members of the Chicago Religious Leadership Network on Latin America (CRLN), were part of a delegation of more than 80 international observers from eleven nations participating in the eighth International Election Observer Mission of CIS for El Salvador's January 19, 2009 Municipal and Legislative Elections.

CIS is a non-governmental organization whose central objectives are to promote solidarity between the people of El Salvador and other peoples of the world and to educate and contribute to the development of democracy. The observer mission existed to contribute to free and fair elections, as well as to generate a safe environment in order to stimulate democratic participation. Objectives were achieved as indicated in the press release from CIS after the election: "As the Eighth International Election Observer Mission of CIS, we reiterate our call to implement electoral reforms that strengthen transparency, citizen participation, and direct representation. "
