Join LeAnne Clausen, sentenced to 30 days, Gus Roddy, sentenced to 30 days and a statement from Diane Lopez Hughes, currently serving 45 days for their witness against the SOA/WHINSEC. Also, we would like to take the time to remember the life of Rufina Amaya, the sole survivor of the El Mozote massacre of over 900 men, women and children in El Salvador. Later, 19 of the 26 people found responsible for the massacre were trained at the School of the Americas. Rufina told the story of the massacre and worked for justice until herdeath of heart illness earlier this year.
Documentary Film Screening
CRLN member Jeanne Foley has arranged for the screening of the film 'Breaking the Silence: Torture Survivors Speak Out' - this is a powerful documentary that some CRLN members saw for the first time in Georgia, at the SOA Vigil. It is highly recommended.

John F. Kennedy said in 1961, "Even today, there is little value in ensuring the survival of our nation if our traditions do not survive with it." There is much talk of torture today but little media attention given to its survivors. It is a topic that directly impacts our soul as a nation and one that we need to be clear about. Today, more than 150 governments use torture. In Chicago alone, there are over 45,000 survivors of torture, according the Kovler Center for Survivors of Torture. This film was made by survivors themselves, to raise awareness and to call for action to build a world of zero tolerance for torture.
