SUMMARY:Broadview Vigil for Immigrant Justice
DESCRIPTION:<p>
 Every Friday at 7\:15am a group of religious volunteers gather to pray for those caught in the immigration crisis.  Typically the first Friday of the month is an interfaith liturgy and on the remaining Fridays the prayer vigil is based on a Roman Catholic liturgy.  People of all faiths are always welcome to join on any Friday.
 </p>
 <p>
 <strong><em>For the month of June only\, the first Friday will be the Roman Catholic liturgy and the second Friday (June 14) will be the interfaith liturgy.  </em></strong>We have agreed to this change in order to welcome representatives of the IL Conference of the United Church of Christ\, who will begin their annual meeting with participating in the vigil\, which will be a special tribute to Rev. Bob Sandman (1927-2012)\, UCC pastor\, activist and longtime participant in the prayer vigil.
 </p>
 <p>
 CNSC/CRLN would like to thank the Interfaith Committee for Detained Immigrants\, the Archdiocese Office of Immigrant Affairs\, and all our partner groups for their flexibility and welcoming spirit.

 Every Christian congregation is confronted with a new
 challenge\: How do we comply with this biblical command in a community of
 immigrants? Together we will explore a response to this urgent question. We
 will present concrete answers to pastoral care amongst immigrants. There will
 be various presenters who will give us the biblical and pastoral marks\, while a
 group of experts will offer workshops on legal aspects\, social\, economic
 services and pastoral care. All of this effort will be done to comply with the
 biblical command of the &quot\;LORD your God.&quot\;

SUMMARY:Rev. Bob Sandman Memorial Vigil for Immigrant Justice
DESCRIPTION:<p>
 Every day\, an average of 1\,100 people are deported from our contry.  Her in the Chicago area\, buses leave twice per week from the Broadview Detention Facility\, filled with deportees who are shackled at their feet\, wast and hands to make the trip to O'Hare and then to their countries of origin.  Every Friday\, pastoral care volunteers arrive to pray with the deportees and their family members.  A vigil is held at 7\:15am to lift up the names of those deproted and pray for a change in our system.
 </p>
 <p>
 Our beloved brother\, Rev. Bob Sandman (1927-2012) participated in this vigil every week\, one of the countless was he ministered for justice and mercy in our world.  In memory of Bob and in honor of all those who continue to face this grave injustice day after day\, we invite you to join us this day.
 </p>
 <p>
 <strong>
 Please note that for the month of June only\, the First Friday vigil will be based on the Roman Catholic liturgy\, while the second Friday will be interfaith to incorporate our remembrance of Bob.
