Encuentros: Encounters in Latin America

On April 24, 1998, Bishop Juan Gerardi presented the report "Guatemala: Never Again" detailing accounts of murder, disappearances, massacres and torture.  Two days later, he was murdered.

To honor Bishop Gerardi, learn of the continuing struggle for justice and reconciliation, study the effects of CAFTA, and explore our role in demanding economic justice in Guatemala, CRLN and CMSA are hosting a delegation to Guatemala.  Highlights may include:

  • participating in national events commemorating the 10th anniversary of Bishop Gerardi's assassination
  • heraing testimonies from those affected by civil war violence about their continued struggle for justice
  • learning from local organizations about the impact of CAFTA
  • visiting rural communities

For more information, or if you are interested in participating in the delegation, contact Erica Spilde at espilde@crln.org or 773-293-2964.
